Enjoy breathtaking views of Mont Blanc when you stay at Chalet Fanfoua - a stunning three-storey property in a quiet cul-de-sac on the edge of the pretty village of Combloux.
The ski lift is 2kms from the chalet a free shuttle bus is available 500m away. Depending on how busy it is, the shuttle is available every 15 minutes or 30 minutes maximum. It is possible to ski right back to the door upon your return. If you want to explore further afield, it's just 4km to Megève. In the summer there are plenty of walks and cycle trails, as well as more adventurous pursuits such as via ferrata or paragliding.
Combloux, nicknamed the pearl of Mont Blanc,has a small supermarket, butcher, baker, pharmacy, bars and restaurants, and there are more facilities in nearby Sallanches, Megève and St Gervais. A lot of the surrounding villages have good markets, where you can buy fresh produce and local specialities.
About the property ...
Chalet Fanfoua, which sleeps nine guests in four bedrooms with four bathrooms, is one of two properties in this contemporary building.
There are some steps to the entrance on the first floor, where you'll find storage for coats and outdoor gear before heading in to the open plan living area, where a wall of windows fills the space with light and makes the most of the incredible views of Mont Blanc. There's a cosy seating area with a television and a suspended fireplace to add cosiness on winter evenings, and a delightful dining area which opens on to a balcony - take a coffee and head out here for a bit of stargazing or enjoy a barbecue in the summer.
The well-equipped kitchen has a central island where you can grab a bit of breakfast before heading out for the day, and there are doors to another terrace with a ski locker. There's also a WC on this floor.
Head upstairs to find a mezzanine games area with cushion seating and another television, where younger guests can make themselves at home. There's also a triple bedroom with a set of bunk beds and a single bed and an en suite shower room, and a double room with views of Mont Blanc. There's a separate shower room on this floor and another WC.
There are two more bedrooms on the lower ground floor. Both are double bedrooms, one with a shower room and the other with an en suite bathroom and access to the garden. This floor also has a useful laundry room with a washing machine and a dryer, and a separate WC.
There are two parking spaces at the chalet, one of which is covered, as well as sheltered and secure bike storage for 5 bikes.
About the area...
Chalet Fanfoua is in a great location for those who love mountain sports, whatever their level - Combloux, along with Megève, and Saint-Gervais, is part of the Évasion Mont-Blanc ski area, and it's just a 30-minute drive to the Espace Diamant, which comprises Praz-sur-Arly, Bellecombe, Crest-Volant, Flumet, and Saisies. This area played host to the winter Olympics in 1992.
Experienced skiers looking for some stunning night skiing should head for the Vallée Blanche - do hire a guide for this 23km run which, with a 2,000m drop, will take you from the Aiguille du Midi to the Mer de Glace, an almost surreal experience under a full moon.
For a change from skiing, why not try dog-sledding or snow-shoe walking, which are both available within a short drive of Chalet Fanfoua. For a little more adventure, why not try ice climbing, via ferrata or paragliding!
In the summer, the mountains become the domain of walkers and cyclists. There's so much to see in this varied landscape, explore the Argentière glacier or perhaps the Baroque footpath, a 20km trail from Combloux to Les Contamines-Montjoie which takes you past some of the area's finest baroque buildings. Look out for marmots along the way!
Fancy a swim? Head for the man-made ecological lake at Combloux, just 3km away where you can relax in the pure waters fed by mountain streams surrounded by wildflowers and stunning views of Mont Blanc. Take a picnic and relax while the kids enjoy the great play area. There's also a restaurant.
Golfers can take advantage of the great courses at Chamonix and Megève.

The OVO Network Review
Chalet Fanfoua is a contemporary four-bedroom, four-bathroom for nine guests. It's in a great location on the edge of the pretty village of Combloux, with covered parking spaces just 20m away.
The chalet is one of two properties in the building, and the access road is also used by another house at the end of the cut de sac, but this is not lived in all-year round.
It's an easy 800m walk in to the village, where you'll find restaurants and basic shops. The ski lift is 2kms from the chalet and you can ski back to the door upon your return.
If you're looking for more choice, it's only a short drive to Sallanches and Megeve.
Chalet Fanfoua has been carefully designed with plenty of large windows to let in the light and make the most of the great views, and the south-facing balcony can be a real sun-trap.
We think this beautifully decorated chalet is a great choice for two families, who can each enjoy their own privacy as the bedrooms are separated on the top and bottom floors. The great bathroom/bedroom ratio also means it's perfect for a group of friends.

A love of Combloux has been in our family for five generations, so it seemed right to call our chalet Fanfoua - the surname of our father from whom we inherited the chalet next door, and the land on which this newer chalet sits.
Our four grandparents fell in love with this area in the 1960s. They each built a second home here, where our parents met on holiday and where we have enjoyed mountain sports all year round.
Ideally located at the foot of the domaine's main piste, and just 800m from the village, the chalet gives everyone the chance to enjoy their holiday at their own pace, with no worries about transport etc. The chalet is set back in a quiet spot 300m from the main road, and enjoys wonderful panoramic views of the Alps and the Aravis mountains from the three terraces, which enjoy the sunshine all day long.
Chalet Fanfoua, which was built by the son of the carpenter who constructed the original chalet, is in a place steeped in family history, tradition and memories. Our aim was to make sure that everyone feels comfortable here.
There's a mezzanine games room for the children, plenty of apres ski just 6km away in Megève and the railway station 9km away at Sallanches served by regular buses.
In the winter you can all get together around the fire in the main living area, perhaps over a fondue or raclette, or enjoy a barbecue on the terrace in the summer.
At Chalet Fanfoua, you'll find a welcoming base with everything you need for a perfect holiday, summer or winter, active or relaxing.
